To visit a Web site

  1. From the File menu, choose Open Location.
  2. Type the address.
  3. To display the page in a new window, select the Open In New Window check box.
  4. Click Open.

To use links to jump to new pages

  1. Click a link. Links to other pages might be graphical images with colored borders or colored text (usually underlined). The mouse pointer changes to a hand when you move the mouse over a link.
  2. To return to the previous page, choose Back from the Go menu.
  3. To go to the next page, choose Forward from the Go menu.

The home page is the page that Internet Explorer accesses when it is first opened.

To download files from a Web page

  1. From the File menu, choose Download File.
  2. Type the URL of the file you want to download.
  3. The location where the file will be downloaded is displayed. If you want to change the location, click the Change button.

To see where you've been

  1. Click and hold on the Go menu. The pages you viewed are at the bottom of the menu. You can go to a page by choosing it from the Go menu.
  2. For more options, choose Open History from the Go menu.

To copy text to the Clipboard

  1. In the page that contains the information you want to copy, select the information. To copy the entire contents of a page, choose Select All from the Edit menu. However, if the information you want to copy is contained in a frame, click inside the frame before you use the Select All command.
  2. From the Edit menu, choose Copy. You cannot copy information from one Internet page into another.
  3. In the document where you want the information to appear, click where you want to place it.
  4. From the Edit menu, choose Paste.

To save a page by clicking its link

  1. Point to the link or item you want to save.
  2. Press and hold down the mouse button, and then choose Download Link To Disk from the context menu.
  3. Type a name for the item.
  4. Select the location where you want the item saved.
  5. Click Save. Internet Explorer saves a copy of the page, not a shortcut to it.

  2. Type a name for the page.
  3. Select the location where you want the page saved.
  4. Click Save.

To print a Web page

  1. If the file you want to print is contained in a frame, click inside the frame.
  2. From the File menu, choose Print.
  3. Adjust settings as needed.
  4. Click Print.

To view the HTML source for a file in a frame

  1. Click inside the frame that contains the file whose HTML source you want to view.
  2. Press and hold down the mouse button.
  3. Choose View Source from the context menu.

    You cannot edit a page that is on the Internet, but you can save a copy of the page on your hard disk and edit that copy.
