- From the File menu, choose Open Location.
- Type the address.
- To display the page in a new window, select the Open In New Window check box.
- Click Open.
Tips
- You can also use the Address Bar. To do so, type the address in the Address Bar and then press Enter.
- Add frequently used sites to the Favorites Bar on the toolbar.

- Click a link. Links to other pages might be graphical images with colored borders or colored text (usually underlined). The mouse pointer changes to a hand when you move the mouse over a link.
- To return to the previous page, choose Back from the Go menu.
- To go to the next page, choose Forward from the Go menu.

- From the Go menu, choose Home Page.

- From the File menu, choose Download File.
- Type the URL of the file you want to download.
- The location where the file will be downloaded is displayed. If you want to change the location, click the Change button.
Tips
- The Download Manager opens when you download a file. It provides you with information on the status, size, and amount of data transferred.
- The Download Manager maintains a history of the files you have downloaded. This is useful when you can't remember if you have downloaded a file or where you downloaded it to. To check the location of a downloaded file, choose Download Manager from the File menu, and double-click the file name.

- Click and hold on the Go menu. The pages you viewed are at the bottom of the menu. You can go to a page by choosing it from the Go menu.
- For more options, choose Open History from the Go menu.
- Double-click an item to go to that page.
- Drag an item to the Favorites window to add that page to your favorites list.
- Drag an item to the desktop to create a shortcut to that page.
- Select an item and, on the File menu, choose Get Info for address, date, and comment information on that item.
- Drag an item to the Favorites Bar.

- You cannot use the Delete key on a History item, but you can drag an item to the Trash.
- You can export your History list as an HTML document by clicking the History window to make it active,
and then choosing Export from the File menu.
- You can change the number of items stored in the History list by choosing Preferences from the Edit menu, clicking the Advanced tab, and then changing the number in the History area.

Creating a collection of your favorite pages
- In the page that contains the information you want to copy, select the information.
To copy the entire contents of a page, choose Select All from the Edit menu. However, if the information you want to copy is contained in a frame, click inside the frame before you use the Select All command.
- From the Edit menu, choose Copy. You cannot copy information from one Internet page into another.
- In the document where you want the information to appear, click where you want to place it.
- From the Edit menu, choose Paste.

Saving the page or picture indicated by a hyperlink
- Point to the link or item you want to save.
- Press and hold down the mouse button, and then choose Download Link To Disk from the context menu.
- Type a name for the item.
- Select the location where you want the item saved.
- Click Save. Internet Explorer saves a copy of the page, not a shortcut to it.

- You can also add a link to your Favorites folder by holding the mouse button down on the link and then choosing Add Link to Favorites.

- Click inside the frame that contains the file whose HTML source you want to view.
- Press and hold down the mouse button.
- Choose View Source from the context menu.
You cannot edit a page that is on the Internet, but you can save a copy of the page on your hard disk and edit that copy.
